It is no secret that a good education has the power to change a life. In today’s ever changing world, one thing that isn’t going away is the importance of STEM because it has such a huge impact on our lives, and the need for a solid foundation in STEM is going to be so important for young people in the future. In case you aren’t familar with it, STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Because I believe that, we’re featuring the STEM Studio of Ramona this week on Ramona Revealed.
As a 3rd generation Ramona resident, and a mom of two young boys, Marcie Laws-Hayes has been passionate about being able to offer a positive, educational, and fun location for the children in our town to be engaged and experience new things. STEM Studio provides a high- quality learning experience based on STEM curriculum–Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, plus art and music. STEM Studio provides our community with a positive place for kids to spend time learning, collaborating and being challenged to think outside the box. Their instructors have backgrounds as educators, teachers, social workers and more, and provide unique perspectives that will resonate with children from all different walks of life. They hope to be an additional resource for all of the local schools, including Ramona Unified, private schools, preschools, and the home school community.
Science is everywhere in the world around us.
Technology is continuously expanding into every aspect of our lives.
Engineering is the basic designs of roads and bridges, but also tackles the challenges of changing global weather and environmentally-friendly changes to our home.
Mathematics is in every occupation, every activity we do in our lives.
Parents who enjoy Yoga can even come and get some Namaste as their kids learn in the STEM Studio! Because the STEM Studio has partnered with some fantastic local instructors
Do you need those science credits for your homeschooler? They have you covered! Curriculum designed by a teacher, and classes scheduled during regular school hours, exclusively for homeschoolers. Each 4-week session will cover various aspects of science, technology, engineering and math. Students will participate in hands-on learning, using various tools and materials to make learning fun and relevant. They will even accept payment directly from your homeschool provider….which is awesome.
By exposing children to STEM and giving them opportunities to explore STEM-related concepts, they will develop a passion for it and hopefully pursue a job in a STEM field when they grow up. A curriculum that is STEM-based has real-life situations to help them learn. STEM activities like the ones offered at the STEM Studio of Ramona provide hands-on and minds-on lessons for kids….and my favorite part is, they are playing and having fun, and I think we can all agree…that’s the best way to learn! So now that you understand what it is, maybe go by and check it out! Who knows, maybe you’ll even learn something!
